There are a whole lot of items in BG3 that can use, generate, or make Lightning Charges stronger. Here is a complete list of everything that can be useful in a Lightning Charge build. This list does not include the two Lightning Charge items removed from the game after Early Access:A Sparking PromiseandLightning Aura Amulet.
How do Lightning Charges work?
Lightning Charges can be gained or used by items in battle under specific circumstances. As listed above, some work by give you Lightning Charges for dealing damage with a certain spell or weapon or other action. When you have one or more Lightning Charges, you will deal an additional 1 point of Lightning Damage when you hit something, and you will get a +1 bonus to attack rolls. You lose one Lightning Charge each turn, but if you manage to build up to five or more of them, you will deal an additional 1d8 Lightning damage on your next successful attack.
Baldur’s Gate 3 best build for Lightning Charges
I don’t know if you noticed, but every single one of those items listed above can be found in Act 1. This means you’re able to have an absolutely busted early game Lightning Charges build that is part Wizard and part Warlock. Most characters will be levels 5 or 6 at the end of Act 1, but let’s build out the whole way to 12 to see what this looks like.
