Back in Galar, everybody had a blast collecting shiny Legendaries in the Dynamax Adventures DLC, but are things the same in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet? Let’s take a look at which Pokémon are shiny locked in The Indigo Disk DLC.

Can you capture shiny Legendaries in The Indigo Disk? - Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

The short answer isno. All “static” encounters (or those that do not spawn in the wild) in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet are shiny-locked. This includes all returning Legendaries like Articuno, Entei, and Groudon, as well as one-time encounters like Terapagos.

All other Pokémon in theBlueberry Pokédex, specifically those you may catch in the wild, are not shiny locked. The only way you’re going to be able to get shiny returning Legendaries is if you port them from Pokémon HOME.

This static encounter mechanic seems to be something written in Scarlet & Violet’s code, so it really doesn’t look like GameFreak is going to budge on it. Again, it’s really a shame when Sword & Shield Dynamax Adventures didn’t have such an annoying restriction. At least the selection of Legendaries and Mythicals you can get in The Indigo Disk is extensive…
