While most objects don’t deal much damage when thrown in Baldur’s Gate 3, there are a handful of weapons that are fantastic at it. With that, here are are best throwable weapons in BG3.
The best throwing weapons in Baldur’s Gate 3
Throwing objects at enemies in BG3 can be a great way to get in some damage from a distance with a character that isn’t usually ranged. While you can throw just about anything from teammates to chairs, these are my favorite weapons for anyone looking to deal some real damage while throwing.
Cold Snap
The Cold Snap is a throwing knife with both Thrown and Finesse. It can deal 1d4 +1 Piercing damage plus an additional +1d4 Cold damage; you also have the potential to freeze an enemy for two turns when that creature misses you. While it isn’t great for a lot of the Barbarian throw builds, it’s a good weapon to toss around as a Rogue.
Cold Snap can be purchased from Freg Drogher in Rivington as long as you don’t haveShadowheartin your party.

Lightning Jabber
When you hit something with the Lightning Jabber, you have a chance to Shock it. Throw this weapon at an enemy to deal an additional 1-4 Lightning damage to it. The Lightning Jabber also has Weapon Enchantment +1.
This weapon can be found in Act 2 in the Shadow-Cursed Lands; look north of the mausoleum where theNightsongis imprisoned for a bunch of cursed Kuo-Toa. It will be part of the loot from the leader.
The Sparky Points
Sparky Points doesn’t return on throw, but it’s a great Thrown weapon for early game. It has Electric Blood which gives two Lightning Charges every time you damage anything with it.
The Sparky Points is a potential reward for saving Councilor Florrick in Waukeen’s Rest in Act 1.
Dwarven Thrower
If you want to use this weapon, you’ll probably need to be a Dwarf (or Disguise Self as a Dwarf) to make the most out of it. It is a Homing Weapon, so the weapon returns to whoever threw it like a boomerang. If the person who throws it is a Dwarf, it deals an additional 1d8 of Bludgeoning damage on hit. If the target is a Large, Huge, or Gargantuan creature, the strike deals an additional 2d8 Bludgeoning damage. This makes the Dwarven Thrower the highest amount of potential damage you may generate from a Thrown object in BG3.
This object is also purchased from Freg Drogher in Rivington, as long as Shadowheart isn’t with you.
Nyrulna
The Nyrulna is a trident that also returns to the owner immediately after being thrown. When you throw it, the Nyrulna creates a lightning explosion that deals 3-12 Thunder Damage in a 6m blast centered on hit; just be careful because this deals damage to both allies and enemies in that range. It is both dippable and has Weapon Enchantment +3. This weapon is great for an non-dwarf throwing character, and it has a great bonus too: it gives a +3m bonus to movement speed and jump distance as well as immunity to falling damage.
The Nyrulna is the reward you get for winning the roulette against the Djinn’s wheel in the Circus in Rivington.
Best things to throw that are NOT weapons in Baldur’s Gate 3
You can throw just about anything in Baldur’s Gate 3, including people, boxes, and anything else you have in your inventory. Here are my favorite none-weapons to toss around the battlefield.
Enemies and friends alike
Want one of your party members to be somewhere else but you’re out of Misty Step? Just toss them like Legolas tossed Gimli inLotR: the Two Towers. you’re able to also throw enemies off of cliffs, throw allies out of harm’s way, or even toss an enemy into some fire or other AoE.
Water
If you decide to add Lightning Charges to your throwing build, Water is a great way to really shock your enemies. Create a puddle on the floor that can be electrified, frozen, or turned into a difficult terrain like mud.
Healing potions
Healing potions have a spatter AoE, so you can actually hit multiple friendly targets with just one potion. If you have two downed friends that are close to one another, you can Help them both with just one potion.
How throwing weapons works in Baldur’s Gate 3
There are several different types of weapons that have the Thrown keyword in BG3. While any weapon or item can be thrown, weapons with the Thrown keyword get a strength bonus to the hit chance and the damage they deal. The exception to this is Daggers; these Rogue-friendly weapons actually get a bonus based on the character’s Dexterity. Thrown weapons that haveFinessestack those two buffs.
While this doesn’t stop anyone from yeeting a massive barrel of oil onto an on-fire enemy, it does mean that there are some specific items inBaldur’s Gate 3that will be much better for throwing than others. All Thrown weapons fall under one of these categories:

Best Thrown build in BG3
Any type of character build in BG3 can throw a weapon, a potion, or anything else in battle, but there is only one spec that really gets the most out of it: a Barbarian/Rogue. The Barbarian subclass called Berserker meshes well with the throwing-everything lifestyle; it grants something called Enraged Throw that allows you to throw an object as a bonus action. Coupling the Enraged Throw with a Thrown weapon makes this build absolutely bonkers.
