Since Owlcat’s previous game Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous worked well on the Steam Deck, you might wonder if Rogue Trader performs just as well. If you’re curious to know, read on below to find out.
How to make Rogue Trader run better on Steam Deck
The Steam Deck provides a convenient way to play all your favorite games without being tethered to your PC. While the Steam Deck excels at running almost every game available on the Steam library, some games may experienceperformance issuesdue to hardware limitations, given that it is a handheld console. This, however, is not the case if you play Rogue Trader.
If you were to pick up your Steam Deck right now and launch Rogue Trader, you would achieve a frame rate ofat least 30 frames per second on semi-high settings. While this may not sound like much, it’s actually quite impressive for a screen with a resolution of 1280x800, providing asmooth experiencewhile playing the game.

You can adjust the game’s settings toenhance your FPSfurther. While I can advise you to lower settings such asTextureorShadow Quality, I strongly recommend adjusting each setting individually to determine which one provides the best performance for you.
On higher settings, thebatterymay only last for about an hour, whilelower settingscan provide up totwo hours of gameplay. If you own an OLED version of the Steam Deck, you can expect up to three hours of gameplay on lower settings
When it comes to the gameplay, all you need is a gamepad for interactions and a joystick or a trackpad for movement. While testing these options, I found that theGamepad with Joystick Trackpadcontroller preset worked the best for me, so, I highly recommend trying it out.
In short, Rogue Trader runs smoothly on the Steam Deck despite being a hardware-intensive and PC-centric game.
