A true gamer never gives up before completing the game’s hardest mode, but the Hard Mode in South Park: Snow Day gave me a challenge like no other. If you want to give it a shot yourself, check out this difficulty guide to learn what to expect from this game’s hardest difficulty.
All hard mode difficulty differences in South Park Snow Day
Below you’ll find everything you need to know about Hard difficulty in South Park: Snow Day. Since there’s no checkpoint system, losing your life means you’ll need to start over from the beginning, which tends to get frustrating.
I recommend completing the game on Easy or Normal difficulty before trying Hard mode. That way you’ll familiarize yourself with every weapon, power and upgrade in the game, not to mention boost your character with Dark Matter and give yourself a fighting chance.

More difficult enemy types
Unlike playing on Easy or Normal, enemies scale much faster on Hard difficulty. As soon as you reach the first fighting area, you’ll encounterClerics,Launchers, andShield Beaters, and they won’t back down until you’ve given them a proper beatdown.
As you reach missions four and five, you’ll encounterenemies possessed by Dark Matterthat hit harder and faster than regular units. Ranged enemies like Launchers will fire at you with pinpoint accuracy, and they should be your primary targets moving forward.
More damage taken
Not only do enemies scale faster, but they’re also more dangerous compared to lower difficulties. Even the basic Swarmers are farmore aggressiveand won’t hesitate to attack you as soon as they spot you. You’ll need a sharp eye and keen reflexes tododge attacks, since four or five hits are usually enough to take you out.
Tougher AI allies
Thankfully, your virtual pals are equally as dangerous as your enemies. They’ll lock onto enemy units and attack without hesitation, usuallygoing for the weaker onesbefore taking on tougher enemies. They’re also quick to rush in and revive you and your allies in case you get taken out,
Sparse health pickups
Cheesy Poofs are much harder to find on Hard difficulty. This means you’ll either need toperfect dodging and blockingdown to a tee or equip yourself with aHealth Totemto have a chance at victory. Cheesy Poofs also won’t give you as much health like in Easy and Normal mode, forcing you to strategize your fights and pick your targets more carefully.
Different area spawns
Since South Park: Snow Day is a roguelike, you’ll encounter different areas and in different order during each playthrough. On Hard difficulty, you’ll get themost challenging areascontaining more enemies and less valuable pickups. When the game says it’s hard, it really means it.
Less rewards
You heard it right. Just because you’ve amped up the difficulty in a game doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll get better rewards. South Park Snow Day’s Hard Mode gives youless Toilet Paper and Dark Matterafter completing a Hard level. Oftentimes you’ll need to complete certain missions on Easy or Normal to earn enough Dark Matter and upgrade your character before attempting Hard mode.
