The perk system has been entirely revamped with the arrival of Modern Warfare 3, introducing a wide range of new perks, including LR Detector. However, the in-game description of the LR Detector perk is still unclear to many.
MW3 LR Detector perk, explained
The LR Detector works slightly similarly to the High Alert perk from Modern Warfare 2, as it triggers a visual notification when someone is pointing a laser orred dot sighttoward your operator. This enables you to stay alert of enemies who are hiding from your view or targeting you from a far range with a sniper rifle. On top of that, it warns about nearby Radiation Sources.
The High Alert perk in Modern Warfare 2 was more powerful than the LR Detector perk in Modern Warfare 3, as it could make a yellow outline appear on the player’s HUD when an enemy outside their view looked at them, no matter if they had a laser or red dot sight. In addition, the High Alert perk helped players to hear the footsteps of enemies who activated Dead Silence in Call of Duty: Warzone. Therefore, I feel the LR Detector perk in Modern Warfare 3 is a significant downgrade.
