Each time you get an error message whilebuilding roads in Cities Skylines 2, it causes your fun to come to a halt until the error is resolved. That’s why I can’t stand getting the “Slope Too Steep” error message, which can be difficult to remove.
You’ll have to use secondary tools or some creative building to get rid of the “Slope Too Steep” error, but it isn’t too hard! Once you tweak things a bit, you’ll find the best solution for you pretty quickly.
How to remove Slope Too Steep error in Cities Skylines 2
Use Landscaping or Terraforming
Using your Landscaping tools to alter the area’s incline will be the most direct way to remove the “Slope Too Steep"error message and get your road placed. You can find these tools on the bottom right part of your screen, indicated by theshovel iconbetween the message and bulldozer icons. Leveling, lowering/raising, or softening the area will alter it enough to allow road placement.
Make Wider or More Curved Roads
Sometimes, you don’t want to alter the way your area’s landscaping looks. Maybe you want to keep the hill in its original shape, or maybe you want to maintain the valley. Either way, you’ll need to get creative at this point. The best way to rid yourself of this error message is to make sweeping and curving roads to work around the landscape. Use theTool Modeoption when laying down roads to choose a curved trajectory, rather than the default straight line.

Why am I getting Exceeds City Limits in Cities Skylines 2?
Whilebuilding city zonesor laying down roads, you may also get an error message in red that says “Exceeds City Limits.“This may be confusing for newer players when you can see that there’s still tons of land to build on. What you need to pay attention to is not the amount of land you see, but rather the dotted lines that create a boundary.
You technically don’t own all of the land on your map, at least not yet. You only own what is within the dotted lines, but you can buy more by clicking thegreen gridded-square iconon the bottom left of the screen. Each level-up will grant you more permits, allowing you to buy more plots.
