Superior and Exquisite materials from plants
Superior and Exquisite materials depend on what specific plant or animal you’re hunting for. To check where you can grab their rarer material quality, use theHunting Guide.
Using the Stormsky Bamboo Shoots as an example with Hunter’s guide, you can find rarer versions of the material within the southern area of the Kinglor Forest—specifically in the Waterway Valley.
All you need to do is head over to the Waterway Valley andpass the timeuntil it starts to rain. Start gathering the Stormsky Bamboo Shoots, and you will mostly encounter superior or exquisite quality of the material. Do take note, you will still occasionally find fine-quality Stormsky Bamboo Shoots.

Superior and Exquisite materials from Wildlife
For hunting animals, a number of factors affect the material harvest quality, such as clean kills, merciful kills, and wildlife age. Similar to plants, you need to rely on the Hunting Guide to locate rarer (i.e., animals with Adult and Mature age) versions of a specific animal spawn.
For example, for the Titanothere above, you need to head to the clearings and riverbanks within the Bamboo Grove Biome of the Kinglor Forest. Using your map,switch to the Biome modeby pressing C on the keyboard (Up button on the D-pad for controllers) to check which area is a Bamboo Grove Biome. In this case, the Silk Woods area above the Threaded River has a high chance that you may find a Mature Titanothere.
To get a clean kill on wildlife, you need tohit their weak points with one arrow. Merciful Killing, on the other hand, occurs when you use the least amount of arrows to kill wildlife (around 2-3 arrows per kill). I recommend using a heavy bow when hunting, as they usually deal more damage, especially on weak points.
If youuse a gunto kill wildlife, you’ll instead get a “ruined” status when harvesting animal remains, meaning you’ll get lower and sometimes zero materials.
