Buying and selling items in Rogue Trader works differently than other Turn-based RPGs. Luckily, my guide will explain how Trading and Profit Factor works in Rogue Trader.

How to buy and sell items in Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader

To buy and sell items, you must locate a faction vendor, usually on a planet or the space map. For example, early in Act 1, you can trade with Pirates on the Thunderthang Voidship. To buy and sell items with faction vendors, you must increase your Profit Factor to a specific value (e.g. if you want to trade with the Thunderfang Voidship, you need at leastsix Profit Factorto buy one of their items).

To purchase other items a Faction offers, you must increase your Profit Factor faction to a higher value with that Faction (e.g. if you want to buy all items from theFollowers of the Void, you must increase your Profit Factor to 20). Once you reach the highest Profit Factor with a faction, you can freely purchase all their items. Buying items does notcost anythingand only requires a specific Profit Factor.

If you want to sell items in Rogue Trader, you must add the item to your cargo hold. you may add items to your cargo hold by right-clicking the item and selecting the Add to Cargo option.

Once added to your Cargo, you can sell the item by finding it under the Reputation menu when visiting a Trader. Selling Cargo will grant you a Reputation, which is also required to unlock items sold by Faction Traders. For example, if you want to buy the following items from the Followers of the Void, you need a Reputation rank of three along with a Profit Factor of 20+:

How to increase Profit Factor in Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader

You have several options to increase your Profit Factor in Rogue Trader. Some options include completing quests/orders, choosing specific dialogue, and finishing colony projects. You can also scan planets and give the data to certain Factions to increase the Profit Factor. Fulling contracts are another option that can increase your profit factor in Rogue Trader. We also recommend paying special attention to any option in the dialogue marked with[Commerce]skill check marker. Dialogue options that require a Commerce skill check usually increase the Profit factor with a specific faction. Because of this, we recommend making sure you have someone in your party with Commerce so that you can choose and pass the dialogue/skill check. If you do not have a character with high Commerce, we recommendrespecingand picking that skill up whenever possible.
