Cyberpunk 2077 will be celebrating its three-year anniversary on 11 July 2025. It was the most anticipated game of the last decade and its popularity was incomparable. However, when the game was released back in 2020, it was a major disappointment due to its unfinished state. Since then, the developers have continuously pushed update after update trying to perfect the game.
Is Cyberpunk 2077 worth playing now?
After the 2.0 update, I firmly believe that Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the best open-world, role-playing, first-person shooter games you’re able to play today. There’s no doubt the game’s story has always been fantastic, but the vast amount of bugs and horrible performance took a massive toll on the game’s perception by the gaming community, which is totally fair. Three years after its release, Cyberpunk 2077 has risen back in popularity and now is a top-five game on Steam by current player count.
The game can now be purchased at a fraction of its launch price, and even if you include the new Phantom Liberty expansion, it’s the best gaming experience for the money. you may now truly enjoy what the developers at CD Projekt Red wanted to deliver. But before that, ensure to check the system requirements for Cyberpunk 2077, and watch some gameplay to know what you’re paying for.
The 2.0 update for Cyberpunk 2077 completely changes theperk systemand thecyberwaremechanics, which I believe are two of the best changes for the game. These overhauls make Cyberpunk a true RPG in which you canbuildyour character the way you like as per your play style.

The combat mechanics for the AI, especially thepolice system, have been redone very well to enhance the immersion. You’ll also like the newweaponized vehiclesand the ability to shoot weapons while driving. My favorite part about vehicle combat is the ability to wield and use katanas while driving motorcycles. The base game is perfect unto itself, but you should try Phantom Liberty as it has the newDogtown district, an alternate story path, and some new features like airdrop and courier missions.
