Pokemon GO’s annual Halloween event has arrived, and one of the quests this year requires you to take a snapshot of a ghost-type Pokemon.

Although the quest sounds pretty straightforward, I’ve seen a bunch of players complaining on Reddit about snapshots of ghost-type critters not being counted towards the quests’ completion. If you’re also facing the same issue, here’s all you need to know about solving the “Snapshot of Ghost-type not working in Pokemon GO” problem.

Pokemon GO ‘Take a Snapshot of a Ghost Type’ not registering (fix)

How to take a snapshot of ghost-type Pokemon in the Pokemon GO Halloween event

To complete this Halloween Timed Research quest, Pokemon GO players must take a snapshot of ghost-type Pokemonstored in their inventory. Some players were unable to complete the Halloween Timed Research because they took pictures ofghost-type Pokemonin the wild instead of from their storage. This was not their fault, as the game developers did not mention this requirement in the instructions.

This came to light when a user reported this problem on X (Twitter) and asked for help. Niantic Supportrespondedwith the following message:

Pokemon-GO-Take-Snapshots

Sorry for the confusion, Diane! The task might not be completed if you take a snapshot of a wild Ghost-type Pokémon. Please take a snapshot of Ghost-type Pokémon in your Pokémon storage and see if it helps. If you continue to experience an issue, let us know!

How to take a snapshot of your own Pokemon

After taking a snapshot of a Ghost-type Pokemon, players will be rewarded with 1500 Stardust in the second stage. At the same time, they will earn 2000 Stardust after completing the same objective during the final stage.
