How do you improve relationships in Wartales?

There are two main ways to improve relationships in Wartales which happen either in combat or in camp. Whenever two charactersfight side-by-sidein a battle, kill an opponentsomeone is engaged with, orheal a companion, they have a chance to improve their relationship. Then at night, when characters aresat with each other around the campfire, their relationships will slowly improve.

You will occasionally also get acampfire interaction event(a character will have a?above them after resting) happening at theend of a restat camp. These will give three options, which will sometimes increase relationships, while other options can open new traits (be careful, as traits can also be negative). If characters aren’t assigned to workstations, make sure the four campfire slots are filled. These seem to be random, and not dependent onparty sizeat all.

Can you damage relationships in Wartales?

The most common way to decrease the relationship between the two characters in Wartales is if something goes wrong on the battlefield. This can happen when anArcher or Spearman hits a companionwith a ranged attack, or with anAOE hitfrom any weapon. Any of these can reduce their relationship status by one.

Another thing to be careful of ispersonality traits. You can see these at the bottom-right of each companion’s character sheet. Try to avoid hiring anyone with negative traits, such asGrumpy, which increases the chance of them not getting along with other companions. However, these can still occur later, after they’ve joined you. If it does, make sure to keep the companion to themselves in camp.
