MW3 introduces a variety of innovations to combat that make the action fresh for players. One of the best new features I got to use was the tactical stance; in this guide, I’ll show you what it does and what makes it special compared to the more traditional ones.

How does Tac-Stance work in MW3?

The newly-introduced Tac-stance in MW3 works by adopting the middle ground between aiming down the sights and the default hip-firing stance, where the player wields the weapon at the waist level. The main feature of this stance is the canted angle at which your operative holds the weapon.

Tactical stance is a modern, real-life tactic used by special force operatives across the world, so we know it has a practical use besides just looking good. In game terms, it serves as a compromise between moving fast but without reducing your accuracy too much. I find that it works best in close-quarters combat since it still isn’t sufficiently accurate to take out targets at ranges farther than 10 meters or so.

My favorite approach to room-clearing is clearing angles using the Tac-stance, as it keeps my recoil under control while allowing me to have a good line of sight. This can make a difference betweenscoring killstreaksor ending up in a Gulag, so it’s certainly a welcome addition. This tactic works especially well if you’re a shotgun user, as the stance groups up your pellets without sacrificing mobility and line of sight, almost as if you were hip-firing.
