Each new vocation costs100 Dcpto acquire. I recommend mastering your starting vocation before moving on to any other potential vocations because by then, not only will you get a firmer grasp of the vocation system, but you’ll also accumulate enough Dcp for the vocation change not to be a burden. I started off with a Fighter, but after acquiring enough augmentations and Dcp at level 18, I changed my vocation to a more supportive role of Thief, as I acquired two more Fighter Pawns to take the burden of the battle head-on.
