At the time of writing, the Rainbow-Tipped Butterfly is generally considered the hardest bug to find and catch in Palia. It onlyspawns between 3am and 6pm each in-game dayand is of epic rarity, meaning it has a low spawn rate. It is also difficult to spot as it appears in the same areas as the more common Blue Butterfly and looks very similar. You’ll find it onhills and cliffs in the southern areas of the Bahari Bay map, such as Hideaway Bluffs, Pavel Mines, and Windy Ruins.

Not only is the Rainbow Tipped Butterfly hard to find it is also hard to catch once you’ve found it. It is advised touse the best smoke bombs you have access toif you want to hunt for them, asproximity to people will make them flee at pace, which I find super frustrating, as you need to get close to them to identify them at all in the first place. Catching one can gain you up to 14 Silk, while they have a sale price of 260 Gold (540 Gold for star quality).
Catching a Rainbow-Tipped Butterfly is required to complete the Kilima and Bahari Bug Collector achievement and the Master Kilima and Bahari Bug Collector achievement. These are particularly sought after as they give Bug Collector’s Display Boxes as part of their rewards.
